What: Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age
When: 18 September 2015 – 13 March 2016
Where: Science Museum, Exhibition Rd, London SW7 2DD
Why you should go: Yuri Gagarin may have been the first man in space, but Russia’s affinity for searching beyond the limits of the stratosphere has a history stretching back to the beginning of the 20th-century. The Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age exhibition presents a rare peak at the real space crafts, rocket engines and suits that have weathered the environment outside our little blue planet over the years. The exhibition represents a major collaboration between the Moscow State Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics and the Federal Space Agency, Roscosmos.
